My first personal application: “Car Finder” is now available in the Marketplace. Car Finder is a simple application that uses the Map control to show you where you are and lets you set the location of your car. You can also take a photo of the surroundings and store notes to help you find your car again. This is ideal if you are in unfamiliar surroundings or if you are in a hire car that you might not easily remember.
The idea behind writing Car Finder was to implement a relatively simple, but useful mapping application as a reference for future posts here. I’ve got the following posts planned so far:
- Showing the current location and an accuracy circle.
- Looking up an address based on your location using the WP7Contrib library.
- Changing the map source between the different Bing maps and to alternative sources such as OpenStreetMap and OpenCycleMap.
- Implementing analytics using Flurry.
So, sit back, relax and enjoy the blog posts as they arrive. In the mean time, why not download Car Finder and give it a try!
